Mississauga Stars One of OSBA’s original teams. History: The Stars have a place in history and not only the first champions, but the first back to back champions. In 2001, the team posted a 15-5 record and went on to beat the Dodgers (then Chiefs) in the final game of the double knockout. In 2002, they were 18-5-1 and captured their 2nd title in the double knockout format. In 2003, they were 15-6-1 and made it to the semi-finals where they lost to Bloor. In 2004, they were 14-8 and got swept in the first round by Richmond Hill 2-0. In 2005, the franchise had their only losing year at 7-18-1 and were swept by Richmond Hill 2-0 in playoffs. In 2006, the Stars rebounded and went 16-10 earning a first round bye. In the playoffs they knocked off the Bengals 2-0 and then fell 2-1 to Burlington. The team continued to get better in 2007, and posted a division winning 19-9 record. In the playoffs they beat the Majors 2-1 and then fell 2-1 to the Bengals in the Semi’s.
OVERALL OSBA RECORD(missing 01-03 playoffs) : 104-61-3 (.609 Winning Percentage) History with Bulls : The Bulls and Stars rivalry started in ’05 when the Stars travelled to Burlington and were swept in 2 close games. 4-3 behind a Hayes win and Conlon Save and 2-1 behind a Willits CG win. Later in the season, the Bulls went to Mississauga and won 5-1 behind another Willits CG and 12-0 behind a Conlon CG win. In 2006, the Bulls swept again. 8-3 with a Leyland CG win and 13-4 with a McKnight CG win. The Bulls were now lifetime 6-0 against the Stars, but come playoff time, the Stars came to play and took Game 1, 13-7 with Leyland taking the loss. Game 2 was a legendary 10 inning game that saw McKnight pitch the whole thing and the Bulls won 4-3 on a walk off HBP to Bryan Blasko. Game 3, Conlon took to the hill and pitched a 4-2 CG as the Bulls took the series. In 2007, the Stars came to Burlington and came back to win 3-2 against McKnight in game 1. In game 2, Kozak got the win and the Bulls won 6-2.. At the end of the year, the Bulls met the Stars in the Whitby/Brooklin tournament finals where Kozak pitched a complete game and gave the Bulls a 6-0 win.
